Today’s ‘Uncommitted Spotlight’ features Top Gun Fighting Clams 2020 midfielder Zach Frank of Hopkinton HS (MA).

Lacrosse Honors: Started for the 14-5 Hopkinton High School squad last spring as a sophomore (plans to PG); at season’s end, received Honorable Mention All-League recognition.

Academics: Honor Roll student during second half of last year.

Coaches Comments: “Zach is a tough, rugged midfielder who has caught the eye of a few college coaches this fall already. Coaches love his approach to the game, and it’s really hard not to.

“Zach is, in many ways, a throwback middie. If the ball is on the ground and he’s one of two or three near it, it’s his. If an opposing offensive player senses a matchup, which is not unusual because Zach’s height appears to make some taller middies momentarily overconfident, he almost always regrets it afterward (and in turn, make sure he doesn’t repeat the mistake later in the game). And when gains possession on our defensive end, the ball is as good as cleared.

“While Zach’s strength is one the defensive end and between the lines, his offensive ability should not be discounted. Zach has a knack for getting to the rack and scoring big goals, often with an accurate, soft touch in tight quarters. As I think about it, this is probably the only thing remotely resembling soft in Zach’s game.”

Fall Showcases & Tournaments: This fall, Zach has attended the Mayflower Invitational (11/5) and the 3d/FLG Invitational (11/12), and will attend the Philly Showcase this coming weekend (11/19).

Why did you choose Howard? “I chose Howard University because of their superior academics and athletics. I also decided on Howard because it puts me closer to home and my family and loved ones will be able to be at most of my games!”
